Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out what genre and sound they are looking for first and foremost. From there, we can figure out excerises and repitoire that reflect the students skill level and interests. I try many methods, since each voice is different! We will find what works for you :)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in vocal training for the past four years. Here and there I have taught a few students. I am studying music education in Fort Myers.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 per 30 minute lesson. $75 for a month of 30 minute lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
My junior year of highschool, I had a friend who really wished to get into the chamber choir. I was already a member, and we did a crash course lesson the night before his audition. He got in, and had the time of his life. I also would teach kids in the musicals I was in, teaching them their harmonies. I would also meet with kids before school to help them with solos, or anything they ever needed. I love to see students smile whenever they make progress!
What types of students have you worked with?
Adults, high school, middle school, and elementary. Anyone can learn to sing!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A kid I used to teach texted me, and we got to catch up and recall their progress. I love seeing young musicians on their road to finding their way. Hearing of their accomplishments as a teacher makes you unbelieveably proud.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Trust yourself and do not worry! It can be scary starting something new, or bettering something you have dabbled in. I am rooting for you, and am in your corner! I never thought I would be where I am today, much less helping others like I was once helped!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? Where do you wisht to be? I will do my best to get us there!
