Héctor Eduardo Herrera Alvaro.
Clarinet, Bass Guitar, Singer.
Graduated in clarinet performance and education in the National Arts School and the Superior Institute of Arts in Havana, Cuba. As a clarinet player, held for 5 years the chair of 1st clarinet in the Symphonic Orchestra of his hometown Matanzas, and taught for 13 years in the Samuel Feijoo Professional Arts Academy in Santa Clara, Cuba and Matanzas Conservatory of Music, introducing the clarinet there at conservatory level. Developing a career as chamber musician and as a soloist with all the major orchestras of His country as well, including the Cuba's National Symphony, where he made the premiere of works for clarinet written for him by cuban composer Jorge López Marín. Being appointed every year to perform a new repertoire piece in La Fiesta de los Clarinetes, the most important event of the instrument in Cuba, he was placed between the leading performers of his country.
Mr. Herrera developed a side career as a singer, at the beginning as part of Cuban professional choirs, and later becoming the tenor of one of the most important ensembles of Early Music worldwide: Ars Longa de la Havana, performing with them in some of the most important places in the Early and Classical Music scene like the Wiener Konzerthaus in Viena, Austria and festivals in USA, Germany, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands.
For 10 years Mr. Herrera toured inside Cuba and Latin America playing the electric bass with some Cuban artists and songwriters. Being part of the Lien y Rey quartet as a multi instrumentalist playing keyboards, bass, clarinet, flutes and ethnic wind instruments as well as singing, he have been involved in various recordings and performed in places like Luna Park in Buenos Aires or Jorge Eliecer Gaitán theater in Bogotá.
Currently Bass player in the the band Crosswalk, Cantor in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and Session Leader and Musician in Mind and Melody Foundation.
