Inna C. says, "Learning voice and piano at the Palm Beach Gardens Elite Music Academy of the Arts has been an AMAZING experience! It has been so amazing that I recently signed up my 6 year old with them... and she too, loves it already! I, myself, took piano and singing lessons from age 7 to age 9 at another location, but I didn’t like my lessons at all! So I stopped. As an adult, I decided to go back to piano, and also take voice, and be really good at both...So I did some serious research, and looked for the very best instructor I could find. After a good amount research, I signed up for piano and voice/singing lessons at the Palm Beach Gardens Elite Music Academy of the Arts. There, I have been taking piano, and voice lessons with Dr. Crawford, and it has been the best learning experience ever! She is enthusiastic, patient, very knowledgeable, and knows exactly when to push and when to ease up. In addition, her lessons target all aspects of piano playing and singing, including technique, ear training, and musicality, which I very much needed. In singing/voice, she has given me much professional advice, and has helped me develop my voice in such an amazing way! She knows exactly how to get the very most of your voice, and teaches you great technique. Dr Crawford has always made all material so easy to understand and follow, which has allowed me to progress very quickly. In piano, she has helped me take my piano playing & technic to such amazing level, I have just started to learn Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, which is a piece I never thought I would play! It have loved every minute of my lessons! ...and the entire staff is kind, and very professional! They also clearly explain their policy, how they work, and how you can get the most of your lessons. Just what I need to progress as productively & beautifully as I have, in both piano and voice! Whether I just play the piano, only sing, or play and sing a piece, I love what I hear! I am so very pleased! ...and have I said that if you want the same amazing lessons online, via the internet, instead of in-studio, or in-home, they also offer it, and the online lessons are just as amazing? I've taken both, and really love both! This academy is just really great all around! I could not thank them enough! My daughter and I have planed to continue our lessons until we complete our courses. This amazing academy has surpassed my expectations! I'm truly thankful! As a recommendation...If anyone, child, or adult, is looking to truly learn and succeed, you could not find a better place! The Palm Beach Gardens Elite Music Academy of the Arts comes highly recommended!" Read more

I studied abroad for two years, after wondering why Actors from the UK were taking all the roles in the US! Kidding, I swear. I graduated with my Master of Fine Arts in Acting (The British Tradition) from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, UK. I also graduated from the University of South Florida with my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance. I am certified in unarmed combat (US/UK). I've learned through various instructors under the techniques of (Movement) Laban; (Voice) Linklater, Estill; (Acting) Meisner, Stanislavki, Chehkov, and Practical Aesthetics. Each of the acting techniques differ in what is taught, but they all reach for the ...

Your Acting Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do acting classes cost?

Acting classes cost $25 to $65 per hour on average for group classes or $50 to $150+ per hour to hire a private acting coach. Prices vary depending on where you live and the instructor's experience and reputation. Acting studios that offer ongoing weekly classes typically charge $150 to $350 per month.

Acting courses and workshops can cost as little as $200 to as much as $2,800+, depending on the content, number of sessions, and the instructor's demand. Some acting workshops are short, 1- or 2-day intensive classes focusing on one aspect of the industry, while other programs last 4 to 8 weeks and cover several topics, methods, and techniques.

Most studios offer a free trial class so you can get a feel for the teaching style and decide if it's right for you.

Are online acting classes worth it?

Online acting classes are worth it if you want to pursue acting and are unable to attend acting classes in person. With online video calling platforms like Zoom and Skype, you can now study acting with the best in the industry from the comfort of your own home! Many reputable acting coaches—including those right here on Lessons—now offer online acting classes and teach the same methods and techniques that they teach in the studio.

Do you need acting classes to become an actor?

You technically don't need acting classes to become an actor. However, acting classes can help you gain confidence, learn new methods and techniques, analyze scenes and scripts, and build new industry connections and relationships. Acting classes can also teach you about the business side of acting, which is as important as acting itself.

How long do acting classes take?

Acting class length varies depending on the studio and the type of class. Some studios have 2-hour classes, while others have classes lasting 3 to 5 hours. Depending on the location, acting classes may be offered in several formats, such as ongoing weekly classes, weekend intensive workshops, and training programs that can run anywhere from 2 to 8+ weeks.

What skills do you need to be an actor?

While the necessary skillset varies depending on the type of acting you pursue (think Broadway theater vs. TV commercials vs. film), all actors need a broad range of skills to portray the expressions and emotions of a character so effectively that they temporarily transport the audience to a world where the actor is indeed that character. This often involves:

  • Memorizing lines and stage cues
  • Analyzing scripts and scenes
  • Developing a character's emotions and physical expressions
  • Working with other actors, directors, and production crews
  • Adapting to unexpected changes and situations
  • Speaking clearly and adjusting one's voice to align with the character
  • Learning and developing different acting methods and techniques
  • Being comfortable in front of an audience or camera

Reviews for Jupiter acting classes

Miss Lilia is the best acting coach I´ve ever had. I reached to her a month before having to submit my application for College Theatre Programs. Despite the short amount of time, we managed to get it all done! She´s a very comprehensive and nice person. She makes the class fun and not so structural, which I think is key for any acting classes.

Melissa is a brilliant vocal teacher and coach. She is very unique in her field. She is, in my long experience, RARE. A teacher who not only can work with all variety of musical styles and vocal preferences, she goes deeper in her coaching in helping many with “old habits, old tapes, old negative thoughts “ that deter and destroy vocalists in their desires and dreams to be good singers and performers. She has worked patiently with me for almost three years. I could not say enough about what she has done for me. In every lesson, she has been supportive, hard working and creative in knowing other avenues to work with the voice when it’s not working for the singer. She is dedicated and committed. She is all about her students and their well being. Melissa believes in hard work, but she does not cloud hard work with also, having fun! As she says, “...if you are singing and not having fun, then you are not singing! Singing is fun!” She is an extremely gifted, experienced, educated, talented woman. I look forward to just how high up the scale she IS going to take me! (Two octave E flat -above middle C for now!) 😉
