Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We work with each student to build a strong foundation to then build upon. The foundation starts with learning how to fall properly so to avoid injury. We can then build from there to learn the art of throws.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 40 years of Judo experience. I am recognized by the United States Judo Federation (USJF) and the Kodokan in Japan.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We charge $35monthly. Kids classes are Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00 to 5:40pm
Teen and Adult classes are Mondays and Wednesday 5:45 pm to 7:30pm and Fridays 5:00 to 6:30pm
How did you get started teaching?
I have a passion for Judo. Jigaro Kano, the founder of Judo said to spread the word of Judo and not to keep it to yourself.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from 8 to over 60 years old throught the years.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Students looking to take Judo should make sure that their instructor is recognized by the Japan Kodokan, and either the USJF, IJF or USJA.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be sure to ask where their teacher is recognized, also if they are insured, how long he/she has taught and how long they have been involved in that martial art.
