Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we always start with reviewing what they know. Once I know their level, I'll break down what they need to improve on first and work on conditioning too. We move up the ladder of stroke difficulty as the student is comfortable.
For a first time swimmer we will start off with kicks and then we will learn how to hold their breath. We gradually teach them how to swim to different areas in the pool.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a swimmer throughout grade school, while I also worked as a life guard in high school. I worked for a small swim business as a summer camp instructor of swim. I have also been a traveling private swim instructor for the last 6 years.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always love to swim and one summer after I graduated college I got the job to work as a swim instructor at a camp and also learned how to do private classes.
What types of students have you worked with?
The youngest has been 7months and the eldest above 50+. I have worked with kids on the spectrum as well, both for exercise and healing.
