Miss Kim has been wonderful with my daughter. She is communicative, very patient, and she organizes her session to be a progression of vocal exercises and some songs that help my daughter grow in skill. Each session is highly organized and well thought out with clear instructions that make it easy to follow.
My daughter can be hard to work with in that she can be very self critical, but Miss Kim has shown understanding and calmness that help my daughter work through rough moments and get back to singing. She has a good balance between giving constructive feedback, and listening.
She also periodically organizes singing recitals and invites her students to join and work on a song throughout the lessons. We recently had our first one, and my extremely shy daughter (who would only sing in front of her brother) sung confidently and wonderfully.
We highly recommend her!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with learning warm up exercises. Each exercise warms up the voice, as well as works a certain part of the voice. I will assign songs depending on age and skill level. Then, we move on to breathing. As the student progresses, they perform in Zoom recitals, create video recitals. I also help with audition prep, as well as songs chosen or written by the student. Online lessons have been amazing since the pandemic started. And my students have progressed immensely from the Privacy of their home. ALL students sing songs of their own choices, as well as assigned songs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. I have been teaching for 25 yrs.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching after receiving my Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. I love watching my students progress. I feel so elated when I watch them perform.
What types of students have you worked with?
College students preparing for auditions. Lead singers in bands. Adult students wanting to sing better in choir, or just go out and sing solos for a karaoke night. I have worked with beginner through advanced voice students. I teach all ages from 5-85, all skill levels, and many different styles of music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I accompanied one of my students to Book from tape, where we completed her Theater Audition Videos. That was SO much fun.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure your voice teacher holds a degree in Vocal Performance. This way you know you will be getting proper vocal instruction.
