Hello, my name is Melvin owner of A-Swing Golf Academy. I am a local GolfPro here in Tampa transferred from Ft Lauderdale. I teach every day for the past 31 years. I do club repair Putting analysis (with SAM putting lab) Short game schools , and Clinics etc . I am also Adaptive Golf Certified. I help people with special needs and navigate injuries.. My forte over the years to help kids get on their high school golf team and get scholarships to college for Golf through lowering handicap and better scoring .

Coach Melvin is an exceptional coach and an exceptional human being.
As a parent of a son on the autism spectrum and two children with ADHD, finding the right coach is not just about swing mechanics — it’s about finding someone who understands growth, structure, patience, and character development. We found all of that and more here.
Coach is demanding — and that is a gift. He holds the kids to a high technical standard in their setup, grip integrity, posture, tempo control, and short-game discipline. He doesn’t allow sloppy fundamentals. He reinforces proper alignment, weight transfer sequencing, rotational mechanics, and course management strategy in ways that are clear and repeatable. The improvement in ball striking consistency, shot dispersion, and mental composure under pressure has been measurable and obvious.
But what sets him apart is how he pairs toughness with genuine care.
He understands that development isn’t just physical — it’s neurological, emotional, and behavioral. My son, who thrives on structure and clear expectations, responds incredibly well to Coach’s direct communication style. The consistency of instruction, the accountability, and the defined performance standards have strengthened not only his golf game, but his confidence and self-regulation.
For both of my children with ADHD, Coach’s sessions are structured, purposeful, and engaging. He breaks complex swing movements into digestible, sequential components. He reinforces focus, routine, and pre-shot process in a way that builds attention discipline. The results have shown up not just in lower scores, but in improved patience, resilience, and composure.
He teaches etiquette with the same intensity he teaches mechanics. Respect for the course. Respect for playing partners. Respect for the game. Respect for self. Those lessons will outlast any tournament trophy.

Melvin was a great coach, teaching me proper grip, swing mechanics, and bringing me out to walk through thinking on the course.
I originally hired Melvin after reading reviews from new golfer and scratch golfers alike saying how helpful he was to them and that he cares about your game improving more than any payment - and that is the absolute truth.
I purchased a package through him, and he went above and beyond, even having me come out after that time had expired to finish something we didn’t completely cover in my last lesson.
I would recommend Melvin to anyone, and can’t wait to keep growing my game with him
