Music lessons tailord to your needs and learning style. It's about you learning, improving and developing a life-long brain exercise that simply can't be beat. I began my musical experiences in the womb. With three older sisters all taking piano lessons and Mom monitoring the practice and hollering - "wrong note" from the ironing board, I had very early exposure. Formal lessons began about age 4 or 5, but no one really remembers me not making music. From my early intro to piano then sax, oboe, pipe organ, theatre organ, Hammond/Jazz/Blues organ through recorders, thumb piano, guitar, folk percussion and so much more I just can't live without ... Guitar Lessons In Metro Atlanta

Hello, I'm Stephen Carrington; I have been playing guitar since 1987, and I am ready to teach you! I specialize in rock and blues, but I also teach metal, country, pop, and anything in between. My studio is in East Cobb/Marietta, very convenient to I-75 and other main roads. I give every student a personalized, one-on-one lesson, focusing on what they need to do to achieve whatever musical goals they have for themselves. I don't schedule lesson back-to-back, but always with at least a 15 minute "buffer" period between lessons; that way I can properly finish any lesson, even if the student is having an epiphany right when the scheduled less ... My teaching approach: Music has always been a big part of my life, even as a child. I was lucky to have parents that had great taste in music (The Beatles, Elvis, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, along with many more) But it wasn't until high school when I came into my own & really wanted to play guitar. I had a few guy friends show me a few chords but really taught myself how to play. I started out having an old crappy classical guitar and then started visiting Guitar stores & played around on all sorts of guitars! I then upgraded to an Ovation & saved up finally for my Martin acoustic which I still have & play today!! My influences are: Jimmy Paig ... View Profile

Frequently asked questions

How much do guitar lessons cost?

The average cost for guitar lessons is $40 per hour. Available for all ages and all skill levels of guitar playing, the pricing of individual or group guitar lessons can start as low as $20/hour. Teachers charge based on their location, years of teaching, levels of knowledge and expertise, and travel time (if applicable). Lessons can last from half an hour to a full hour, and are priced accordingly.

How long does it take to learn guitar?

If you just want to learn a few chords to strum along to some songs, then learning to play the guitar really isn't that hard for most people. Many students are able to learn a few chords and get a decent strumming pattern going after a few weeks. If you've had prior experience playing an instrument, you can expect to pick it up after just a few lessons.

Should I take guitar lessons online or in person lessons?

Private in person guitar lessons with a skilled instructor that is focused on you, your interests, and your progress is the most sought after experience and hard to replicate online. Plus, you tend to learn faster in person. On the other hand, online guitar lessons are quickly becoming popular. The selection of teachers is not limited to those in your geographical area and you can communicate via video in real time with your teacher in the comfort of your home. When filling out your request on Lessons.com, we recommend you select both online and local options, then compare your options and see what works best for you.

How old should children be before starting guitar lessons?

A child as young as 4 can begin to learn if they are really motivated and have a patient, creative, and devoted teacher. However, we've found almost all kids under six are too young to benefit from formal guitar lessons, as they require dexterity and levels of concentration children their age can't provide. That being said, lessons do not need to be formal right off the bat, and can just provide a fun introduction. Also, your child may benefit from using a ukulele to start, as it's smaller and easier to learn, but very similar instrument.
