What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask for referrals and then call them. Read the reviews of their other students on their social media. Ask for a trial class or see about meeting with them for 15-20 minutes to get an idea of their teaching style and if they will be able to help you reach your goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Am I ready to commit to doing what the instructor is asking me to accomplish outside of the normal lesson? What exactly do I want to accomplish? Does this instructor have the knowledge and experience to adequately communicate that knowledge to me? What is my learning style?
