It's been over 3 decades since I first started teaching music when I was 12 years old. I knew I wanted to be a professional singer when I was only 2 years old. Because I was so young it was always difficult for my mom to find qualified people who would work with me and take my desire to perform seriously. As I got older a new problem appeared - finding qualified people who would nurture my gifts without ulterior motives. I started FAME Studio to help young people who have similar aspirations and to provide that missing piece of high quality training and a solid foundation on which to be build an arts life. I also created FAME Studio for adult ... View Profile

I combine elements of each of these studies in their piano lesson which give the students a broad understanding and a detailed approach at the same time. This helps to make their learning and playing of the piano very enjoyable and fun.

Music lessons tailord to your needs and learning style. It's about you learning, improving and developing a life-long brain exercise that simply can't be beat. I began my musical experiences in the womb. With three older sisters all taking piano lessons and Mom monitoring the practice and hollering - "wrong note" from the ironing board, I had very early exposure. Formal lessons began about age 4 or 5, but no one really remembers me not making music. From my early intro to piano then sax, oboe, pipe organ, theatre organ, Hammond/Jazz/Blues organ through recorders, thumb piano, guitar, folk percussion and so much more I just can't live without ... Jumping in helps you grow. Whenever I have observed other schools/teachers, they teach to get paid but I teach to better the student. I was taught to be ready as if I’m playing a gig tomorrow. I hope to give real life skills to apply right away. From engineering, producing to playing piano and drums for church.. I have just jumped in and I’ve been growing ever since. I hope I can give that same experience to my students.

I have been teaching piano off and on for twenty-five years. My specialty is transcribing pieces that the student has specifically requested. For example, I have taught keyboard players in rock, pop, funk, or cover bands, how to play difficult piano or organ solos, note-for-note. I have also taught jazz pianists how to play pieces by Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, Dave Grusin, Brian Culbertson, Jeff Lorber, Ray Bryant, etc. If a student shows an interest in a particular piece, I will transcribe it to sheet music, and then show him/her how to play the exact note-for-note version, with an emphasis on capturing the feel and technique of ... I have been teaching piano since I was a freshman in college, majoring in Music Education at the University of Kentucky, more than 30 years ago. I love teaching and seeing my students progress in their abilities to play piano and grow to love it as I do. My lessons are fun and my students work hard to learn. Our bi-yearly recitals are exciting and everyone enjoys the opportunities to perform. To help prepare for recitals and to have contact with the other students, we have a Master Class Week once every two months. For that week students attend a group lesson in place of the private lesson. These are greatly enjoyed by everyone. Because ... View Profile

Morrow Music Studio

Chris Morrow · Lawrenceville, GA

What or who inspired you to start teaching?

Hello! My name is Chris Morrow, and I have taught piano for 28 years, and voice for 10 years. I began teaching piano right out of college, and was hired by a music store for my enthusiasm and passion. I went into teaching because it is the perfect combination for my love of children and my love of music, but I teach adults as well.

What types of students have you worked with?

I enjoy teaching preschool age, and I also am certified by the Young Method of Piano to teach autistic and other special needs students. I currently have students of all ages in my studio, from Kindergarten through Adult, both typical and special needs students. I enjoy teaching them all!

What advice would you give aspiring students?

Encouraging others is one of my gifts, and I love to encourage my students to be their best! Music study is not always easy, but is very worth the effort once a student can play songs that they know and love. The key is perseverance and practicing!

I strive to be fair, fun and flexible in working with students and parents. I offer two recitals per year, as well as participation in competitions through the local chapter of the Music Teachers National Association, of which I am a member
