To whom it may concern:
I have known Todd for 2 . years, through tennis participation in the Sugar Mill neighborhood, where I was Director of Tennis. Todd is a very knowledgeable coach, and teaches with great passion. Todd and I had the same coach, James Verdieck, from Redlands California, therefore I know that Todd has a very solid tennis teaching background.
Todd is also an excellent player and was extremely active in the Sugar Mill neighborhood, as both a player and a coach. From what I observed, he had a great report with his students and is extremely personable.
I can only highly recommend Todd for any coaching position.
Sincerely,

To whom it may concern
Todd was a motivating leader for our Sugar Mill tennis team and made our practice/lessons challenging, rewarding and fun. Todd is an excellent communicator and was able to make suggestions/improvements to each player based upon their individual strengths and weaknesses.
Personally, he helped me with my net and service game and would highly recommend Todd
as a tennis professional.

Todd,
Just wanted to say, thank you for all the time you have been putting in with me on the courts. I am once again addicted to playing tennis after taking close to 10 years off. Because of your help and motivation I hope to step my game up to be a top A player.
Thinking about my net game before I met you is embarrassing. I feel like my volleys have improved 100 percent. I also appreciate all of your feedback to keep me hungry and coming back for more tennis instruction. I look forward to our Monday sessions every week. It is the only thing I splurge on for myself and it is totally worth every penny and minute. Hopefully my game will keep improving and I can hit
a down the line passing shot as well as you someday. I love everything you are doing with my game.
You the man!
Thank very much,

To Whom it May Concern,
I have known Todd through tennis since I started playing the game in my neighborhood in 2005. He started as my teammate but due to his excellent skills and knowledge of the game, he has become my tennis mentor/coach. Todd clearly loves the game. He also has given back to the game, so to speak, in utilizing his talents in helping others regardless of their abilities, skills, and tennis level.
Todd coaches many players now, both younger and older, and I’ve seen him be quite successful in leading team drills to practices to one-on-one sessions. He comes prepared with not only the equipment and supplies but he is structured, organized, and it’s obvious he plans each outing whether its 30 minutes or 2 hours. I always learn something playing with Todd.
His passion for teaching is quite prevalent to all whom take lessons or just play for fun with him. He learns your game and adapts his style to your needs. His dependability, likeability, and tennis sense makes him an ideal candidate for a tennis coach. It would be my recommendation to hire Mr. Todd Whitson, on the spot.
Sincerely,
David Cox

To Whom It May Concern,
It has been my great personal pleasure as well as to the benefit of my tennis game that I have known Todd Whitson for over five years. I first knew him as the husband of my doubles tennis partner. On Sundays before our matches, he would go out of his way and come to the courts early and hit with us to warm up and review strategies. I could always count on him to watch our matches and when finished, he would give reflective observations - after some prodding from me.
Given Todd’s wealth of knowledge and tennis experiences as well as his teaching style, I jumped at the chance to have him coach our Ladies Sunday Tennis Team. I would like to pause here and point out that as a teacher with twenty years in education; I hold high expectation of a coach. My expectations include but are not limited to;
1. prepared for each lesson
2. begin on time
3. clear instructions and expectations
4. all players are engaged and participating in the lesson
5. individualized feedback based on each player’s current skill level
6. clear and timely communication when scheduling lessons
Not only did Todd meet all these expectations, he went above and beyond. When I hired Todd to coach this past spring, he asked me what my expectations were for a coach. I figured I’d aim high. I told him I would like to see each lesson focus on a skill and a strategy to be learned and practiced during the lesson and then implemented in match play later that week. I also stated I would like to see the lessons build on each other. Instructing at this level takes a well thought out plan as well as structured implementation. Not only did Todd do this – first time I ever experienced this in 18 years of tennis- he followed up each lesson with an email summarizing what he had taught. What completely set Todd apart from all other coaches were his follow-up emails. Although I could not participate physically in Todd’s lessons due to ACL surgery, I know I grew as a player just from reading Todd’s emails. Sometimes people who possess a skill are not effective in teaching that skill to others. Nothing could be farther from the truth with Todd.
Todd will be an asset to any tennis program he joins. I cannot recommend him highly enough. With his tennis knowledge and his instructional skills, Todd is a rare find and
Sincerely,
Kathy Smith
