"Anyone who can walk can run; anyone who can speak can sing. This is what Chanara teaches so clearly and so well -- the use of voice, energy and emotion. Whether you want to sing like an angel or speak like an orator, Chanara can show the way."

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

1-Initial Consultation:  1hr interview re needs & concerns, goals, musical training, history, health & who you think is a "good" singer.  Includes in-depth vocal diagnosis and sometimes we get to breath training.

If we are sympatico, future lessons will be tailored to your needs and goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Bachelor of Music degree, Master of Music (Vocal Performance), Reiki Master, member of National Association of Teachers of Singing.  Professional Classical singer 20yrs.  Several students have become voice teachers after studying with me.

I'm results oriented.  To date, on my "Student Creations" board, I display 36 CDs that were recorded by my students.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Initial 1hr Consultation $50.

Weekly lessons:  $100/hr

How did you get started teaching?

People would come up to me after performances and asked me to teach them how to sing.

What types of students have you worked with?

Beginners to pros, voice majors to singer/songwriters, all ages, all styles, even sound healers.

Many people come for the transformational healing effect of my method and to open their throat chakra.   I've had good success with Parkinson's patients.  I do a lot of work with improvisational singing & vocal overtones.  My "Learn Vocal Overtone Sound Healing" you tube video has almost 100K hits.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

My "Sing For Your Life" class provides sing-along entertainment for the elderly.  Our job is to radiate joy.  When we walk into a facility the patients are sitting there like zombies - and when we leave, their eyes are shining.  It's deeply fulfilling for both class and patients.  Win-win.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

1-You must intuitively feel TRUST for the teacher, or your Inner Artist will not come out to play.

2-Ask them who they think is a "good" singer.  And then go on line and listen to that person to find out where they want to take you.  If possible, listen to a recording of them singing.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Why do I sing?  Why do I think I need voice lessons?  What are my needs and concerns regarding my voice?
