About this pro

My name is Danny Lee, and I am the owner and operator of Lees Academy of Martial Arts and Oak Forest, Illinois, under the website leekungfu.com.

My mother is a Grandmaster in the art of Temple Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. And she and I run a martial arts supply business as well as an academy. Through my life she has provided me with many opportunities to train various styles of martial arts including her own. As I became more involved in the Arts I gravitated more towards stick fighting and knife fighting mainly from the regions of the Philippines and Indonesia. I also have trained with some of the philosophies of Jeet Kune Do which gives students opportunities to explore themselves personally. Through my life of training I have come to appreciate the study of motion and all martial arts. And with the influence of my mother she has helped me see what I truly want to show and express when it comes to my martial art.

In our classes we study safety balance and range using no flexibility and no strength. The idea behind this comes from the fact that we will lose flexibility and strength as we get older and we need to understand our motion in order to produce what we see in our minds. Forms and techniques are only suggestions to what will happen in a moment of close-quarter Confrontation, and we need to be ready for it.

I currently teach both stick and knife fighting classes everyday to whoever wants to learn. I have experience teaching the Chicago Ridge Police as well as the Oak Forest police departments and assisting them with knife awareness as well as self-awareness. As always, be safe and I thank you for your interest.

I truly enjoy helping people find their potential and discover more about themselves living a martial lifestyle. Self improvement and attaining goals while improving one's self awareness is very important to me.
