My name is Eslavia Garza. In 1982, I earned my first educator certificate in the area of early childhood and started teaching in Mexico City. Four years later, I got a second teaching certificate as an English as a second/foreign language teacher. In 1988 I was hired by the Los Angeles Unified School District as a bilingual teacher, and in 1990 the Chicago Public Schools gave me a bilingual teaching position as well. I worked for CPS until 2017.
I've enjoyed working with students of all ages, from preschool to adults. To me, there's nothing more gratifying than passing along the sense of empowerment that comes with learning.
I believe that anyone can learn more from an instructor who has a passion for teaching and someone who can adapt to unique student needs. I'm also convinced that any kind of learning should be challenging but enjoyable at the same time.
In addition to my experience, I hold Illinois teaching certification.
