What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ensure that the student is completely comfortable with the water and with me. I strongly believe the lessons run a lot smoother when there is trust between the instructor and the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked for the Chicago Park District for 2 years teaching lessons and guarding. I have also worked at The City Colleges of Chicago as a Swim Instructor.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching small children and younger adults at the park district my rookie year and I enjoyed it so much and I would love to continue.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many students from ages 3-25. However I am not limited to those ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently have taught 2 students for several years and they have become excellent swimmers and are now certified lofeguards themselves .
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell the students to make sure that they are open when looking for a teacher. They have to know that not everyone reaches the same and comfort is always the most important thing.
