I have been in the field of special educaion for 8 years. Some years I taugth special education in the classroom and the other years I was a developmental therapist working wiht 0-3 with developmental disabilities. I specifically have a passion for children with special needs because I feel that no child should struggle to learn and every child has the potential to learn.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process is to get to know the child first by answering some questions about their likes and dislikes and most importantly what they want to get out of the lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in early childhood education with a minor in special education. I have a masters in child development psychology. I received my license in developental therapy. I am currenly in a masters program for social work.
How did you get started teaching?
I have wanted to teach since I was in preschool. I have always loved helping others and that never faded as I got older.
What types of students have you worked with?
I primarily have worked with students with developmental disabilities such as Austism or speech delays.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I am fond of is when my nephew started talking. I had been working wiht him for several months and then out of the blue he shouted "No" at me.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell them to not be afraid to take this chance. You never know what you might learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should ask any question that they find relevant, no matter if the teacher thinks it is important or not. There are no wrong questions.
