About
I am always interested in my students taking ownership of their own work. Instead of a full-time acting coach, I like to think of myself as a resource whose job is to help YOU become your own teacher. Even as a beginner, there are certain things I aim for that can empower you to decide you know what you need to do for your next project.
What I most enjoy about teaching acting is watching the student let go of the things holding them back. Usually it's fear, sometimes it's just a distracting habit, sometimes it's unlocking the understanding of a line, but most of the time, it's just the student deciding to trust themselves. There's nothing more empowering than watching the look in a student's eye that tells me "they don't need me anymore."

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we discuss goals (short and long term), what their experience with acting is (not to shame, just so that I have a frame of reference), and what kind of work inspires them. We focus on building a set of repeatable tools and a way of handling stress while working on the piece.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been an actor and freelance director for the last 9 years, first in St. Louis, MO, then in Chicago, IL and now in New York. I have done all kinds of theatre and film work over the years. I have a masters degree in Acting and Directing from Brown University.
