About

I love to sing! I have been a performing singer songwriter and recording artist since I was 14. (Yikes!) I have toured the US and Japan singing. I have recorded over 15 CD's. And I love teaching/coaching other singers. Whether you are just starting out or have been singing for a while.

I teach the whole singer. Body, Mind, Spirit. I help singers get clear about their "vision" for a life of singing.Or maybe they just want to improve their voice. We spend some quality time on where they see themselves, and where they want to take their voice. Breathing is key, and we will spend time covering the importance of breathing and voice placement, We will also address what might be standing in the way mentally, physically or emotionally of the student connecting with their voice. Whether the student is taking voice lessons to build a career in the performing arts, public speaking,or just wants to sing better, and have the confidence that comes from singing out - we work together on a goal!

I encourage students to find songs/music they connect with and are drawn to. Even write their own songs!

I call the voice "The Divine Intersection" because it's the mid point between the head and the heart. I'm inspired by the feeling the student gets when they make that connection at the intersection with their voice. The fun that comes from singing and creating with ease. I am always encouraged when people feel safe to learn, experiment and let them selves be a beginner. When I was a kid in the choir at St Thomas School at the top of the stairs of the choir loft was the St Augusta quote:

"Whoever sings prays twice"

I think that's true.

I count my lucky stars that I found Megon! I had to prepare for an audition, and Megon helped me with great warm-ups, tips, and breathing exercises that made my singing much clearer and more powerful. She individualized our lessons to my strengths and weaknesses. Megon has a lot of experience singing with a band, at her church, and with teaching others to sing properly. She made me feel relaxed. She is funny, caring, sweet, and supportive. She also gave me last-minute advice via text when I was nervous before the audition. Megon is awesome, and I highly recommended her!

Helping other singers who have voice trouble. Holding creativity, songwriting and inprov workshops.

A lot of times I work with students who are brushing up on their performance skills, and many times I work with singers who just want to see if they want to persue singing, often not as a career, but as a hobby, and to boost their confidence. I have always loved the St Augsta quote:

"Whoever sings prays twice"

Make time for yourself and your voice. Give yourself the gift of time, and of being a beginner if you are in fact a beginner. I think Americans in their effort to make progress, often enter into things thinking they should already know how to do what they're about to learn! Give yourself the gift of your own time and attention, You are worth it. Your creativity is worth it

Where do you want to take your singing?

Why do you want to sing?

How many hours are you willing to put into singing?

Hobby or Pro? (no wrong answer here!)
