About

Hello! I enjoy the challenge of addressing each individual (both singing challenges and learning styles). Everyone learns so differntly, so I teach differntly!

In lessons, we work a lot on technique (that's why you are taking lessons, right?!) We also work a lot on performance aspects (when you are ready) so that you feel confident in your singing and you reach your audience on a deep level!

And- there is a lot of hand holding. We work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and a warm and encouraging enviroment!

I enjoy working with beginners and adressing their big challenges and fears about singing. They have a much better feeling about singing after just one lesson and are ulitmately much more confident about performing!

I have studied with Sarah Schroeder for the last year. The product of my voice going in and the one you hear today can barley becompared due to the fact that it is an entirely new voice. The depth and quality of my tone, understanding of the techniques taught, andability to sing in ways I have not before are all due to the knowledge, patience, and talents of Sarah Schroeder. Although a classical singer herself, she is able to teach how that type of singing can be branched out to all areas of singing. Longevity of the voice is always a top focusand you cannot help but feel safe with your voice her hands. Aside from singing, she is kind, caring, and a great listener.

    Frequently asked questions

Each student has an individual plan based on desired goals and current abilities.

Some of the things we might work on include:

    Vocal technique through specific exercises

    Breath management for singing

Learning and picking out appropriate songs

    Interpretation

Sight reading, ear training, rhythm reading

    Bachelor of Music

    Master of Music

    Continued education

Teaching since 2001 as an undergraduate voice instructor at Belmont University.

Most students are musical theatre and / or classical singers. I enjoy working with both very young students and adults.

Singing involves a lot of muscle memory, so it is important the find someone familiar with vocal anatomy to help you gain coordination of all the parts involved in singing.

Looking for someone with vast experience as both a performer and instructor.

Keep expectations realistic. Know that learning to sing is not a quick process.

Give yourself plenty of time to prepare if you have an upcoming performance or audition.
