Matthew Pearce Vocal Studio

About

Matthew Pearce Vocal Studio offers expert vocal training rooted in years of continuing professional performance, academic study, and pedagogical experience. Founded and led by acclaimed operatic tenor Matthew Pearce, the studio provides individualized instruction to singers of all levels, from beginners to emerging professionals.

Matthew holds a Masters Degree from the Juilliard School in voice and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) at the University of Kentucky. His training includes years of stage work in opera, concert, crossover, and musical theatre genres, as well as extensive experience in dramatic coaching—skills he integrates into a holistic approach to vocal artistry.

With over a decade of teaching experience, including faculty positions at summer intensives like the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, Matthew has developed a reputation for helping students achieve technical mastery, vocal freedom, and performance confidence. His teaching is grounded in healthy, sustainable technique and draws from classical bel canto foundations while adapting to the stylistic needs of each student, whether they're preparing for auditions, performances, or personal growth.

What sets the studio apart is Matthew’s ability to connect with students as both a mentor and artist. He combines practical, science-informed vocal pedagogy with a deep understanding of the emotional and psychological demands of performance.

At Matthew Pearce Vocal Studio, students benefit from personalized guidance, a positive and supportive learning environment, and the wisdom of a working professional who is passionate about sharing his craft.

I started taking voice lessons with Matt a little over a month ago and Ive already learned so many new things about singing and my voice as an instrument. He has so much experience and knowledge and really takes your goals in mind as you learn.
Hes been able to identify ways for me to improve my voice, giving me exercises and lessons that really cater to me improving what I have.
The structure of his lessons are really fun because the first half we do vocal exercises where you really become conscious of technical skills when singing. Ive learned there is so much to keep in mind while singing and you garner a new respect for singers! The second half you work on a song assignment, where you really get to apply what youve learned. This is so fun because the song assignments are specific to you and what youd like to learn and improve.
It makes for a fun lesson and it helps he is also an enjoyable person to work with. He is always positive and gives great constructive feedback. I hope to continue working with Matt for a long time to come!
Thanks again Matt for your expertise and helping me to get to know my voice!
