What is your typical process for working with a new student?

In the beginning, it is important to know the student's personality and voice (range, tone, and habits). The first goal is to make sure that the student can sing in all registers in a balanced manner without strain.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Chihiro is an accomplished teacher with over 10 years of performance experience in classical, jazz, rock, and Japanese folk music, and over 5 years of teaching experience. She graduated from Tokyo College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance with highest honors. She is currently enrolled in the Master's program in Vocal Pedagogy/Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music.

She is passionate about teaching and voice science. She was a Teaching Fellow with New England Conservatory’s Community and Partnerships program, and also she is teaching non-major voice students at NEC.

In August 2021, she presented her research on Japanese female anime voice at the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA) Conference.
