Professor Offering Advanced Spanish Lessons

For advanced students of Spanish: I have received multiple awards for my teaching of Spanish language and Hispanic literatures, both locally and abroad. PhD in Hispanic language and literatures from Boston University, recently retired from full-time teaching position at Framingham State University. My online work is primarily with advanced students looking for refinement of speaking, writing and reading skills, as well as discussion and analysis of literature in Spanish.

Thanks to profe, I've become a high school Spanish teacher, and am actually teaching some short stories to high school seniors, and we do so entirely in Spanish. He is the most influential professor I had at FSU, and I even say some of the things he used to say too! "Es interesante que... (subjunctive)" I wish I could take another class with him!

Profe is THE BEST-taken 5 classes w/him & sad this is my last. he's super thoughtful+funny, wants to get to know you+help you, has office hours and is genuinely interested in your thoughts/theories/opinions. Show up, do the reading, raise your hand and try your best you will not only pass, but learn. he's always got your best interests at heart

This guy is one of the best professors I have had. He gives you a fair amount of homework, and expects you to read. If you do not read or do your homework you will struggle with the class. But, in general he is very easy- going and goofy and tries to keep it interesting. I am taking another class with him because he is that awesome.

Professor Wong-Russell is the best Spanish professor I've ever had. He's clear and really wants his students to do well, but does make you work for it. Go to his office hours if you're unsure, he helped me a ton! I would recommend any of his classes!

my 2 semesters with wong-russel were the best spanish classes i've ever had! he is so helpful, he loves his job and its so clear which is what makes him so awesome. you read a lot, but learn a lot from it. group work happens a lot too and only have a few tests but he reviews and tells you exactly what you need to know for each of them

THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER! not even that the class was easy but he made you actually enjoy going to his class, very helpful always, and he wants all his students to do well.. if you need to take spanish take him.

He is an amazing teacher. I was struggling with Spanish and Dr. Wong Russell explained things over and over until I understand. He is always willing to help, enthusiastic about the material and very upbeat teaching styles. Definitely a professor worth having.

I had Prof. Wong-Russell for a few literature classes and he is phenomenal. He provides a very open class climate where students are not afraid to go out on a limb to give ideas of symbolism, themes, etc. He is very supportive of all ideas, no matter how "out-there" they are! He genuinely cares about his classes and is always well-prepared. A+!

He is by far the best professor i have ever had. I did not want to take spanish in college, but he makes it so fun and enjoyable! I recommend if you can to take a class with him before you leave this school!!!!!

Professor Wong-Russell was the best spanish teacher I ever had !!! I was very impressed with the amount of spanish he knew and he really helped me through the class !!! I will miss seeing him everyday for Intermediate Spanish I !!! If you get the chance, take spanish with him !!

An EXCELLENT teacher. Really knows his stuff. I took through AP 7 in high school and could hardly speak coherently. Wong-Russel pulled it all together for me and really made it interesting. A GREAT, genuinely caring teacher. Highly reccomended!

WICKED awesome professor Not the kind that will pick on a student and make them squirm... if you dont understand him or know the answer he helps you and then moves on. Lots of reading in Spanish but I have had three spanish prof. here and he is BY FAR my favorite If you can get his class take it!!
