About
My studio is equipped with 2 drum sets and headphones for myself and my student. I find 2 drum sets to be very helpful in learning how to play the drums. Parents are welcome to sit in. Most people learn better by watching and hearing then mimicking. I promise to provide a well-rounded and fun approach to playing the drums! If you want to be able to play-a-long with your favorite songs, this is a great place to start. I'll get you playing right away!

I love sharing my musical knowledge with anyone who will listen and I believe that having fun is essential to learning. If students are interested in what you are teaching them, they will focus and the learning will be greater. I have set a challenge to myself to inspire students and to get them excited about music and playing the drums. I encourage them to want to practice and to look forward to learning new skills.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I generally start each lesson off on the practice pads playing several warm-up exercises but the majority of the lesson is spent with the student and myself each sitting behind our respective drumsets working out the three and four way coordination necessary to perform the different drumming grooves. I find 2 drum sets to be very helpful in learning how to play the drums.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are paid monthly or after every 4th lesson at a rate of $130. There is no requirement to pay for a missed lesson. There will be times that I have to cancel too!
How did you get started teaching?
My music career started in the 5th grade when I was handed a practice pad and took my first drum lesson. I went on to perform in all of the musical groups my home town of Arlington had to offer including the Jr. High school band, the High school Orchestra and Concert band followed by the Marching band and Jazz band. I received private drum lessons from several instructors and later studied with legendary Jazz drummer Joe Morello from the Dave Brubeck quartet. I always considered these one on one lessons to be the key to my drumming success. I went on to play with numerous bands and and music projects ranging from pop and rhythm and blues to cassic rock and pick-up Jazz trios. I have been involved in the production and recording of several original music projects one of which took a star turn when I landed an audition on TV's Star search in the 1980s. Several years and many bands later I still perform from time to time but my focus has switched from playing with others to teaching others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students and adults of all ages. My youngest students start at the age of 6. I have prepared several High school students for Jazz band auditions and love teaching adults who always wanted to learn how to play the drums. I am known to get them playing along with their favorite songs within a month!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
So many young people today start off learning to play a musical instument only to give it up within a year or two. My lessons are exciting because learning a new skill is a great feeling when the learning is fun. Students often tell me how much they look forward to their drum lesson every week. Most of my students have been with me for 3 years or longer.
