I have been directing choirs in church since I was a child. I started teaching about 15 yrs out of college after I took a break from performing and being on the road from overseas touring and headlining on cruise ships.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginnners young and old. Some work with children ages 8 and up. Also with those who sang when they were younger and want to get their chops back. As well as short terms students who just want to work on an audition piece for theater or something like the Voice or American Idol.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My yearly Holiday Concert & Toy Drive in December. It is a concert that fills people with the spirt of giving to those who have less or have fallen on hard times while listening to the holiday music and the spirit of the season. Everyone is just alittle bit more happy and cheerful.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher you can relate to and who understands what you what and need to get out of your lessons. Sometimes it's not just all text book.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Where they want to be after lessons. Also what is the gold and where will they get to show off what they have learned and been working on.
