About this pro

I WILL MAKE YOU A STAR!  Singing lessons with the best teacher around:  all styles, all levels, all ages.  I enjoy helping other singers as much as I enjoy singing! As well as having my own studio, I have taught at New England Conservatory in the pop music dept., at Northeastern University (for their musical), and for the Boston Children's Theater. Having been Miss Boston and Ms. Massachusetts, I also instruct my students in stage presence and that all-important "connecting with the audience"! You can find me on Facebook.

Seeing the satisfaction my students experience by the improvement they make!

I’m a high-energy alternative folk/pop singer and guitarist who performs his own material. I've taken lessons from Ruth Harcovitz for more than 20 years. Ruth has allowed me to make progress at my own pace, while at the same time demanding consistent commitment and attention. Her eclectic teaching style, and her broad grasp of vocal technique, has helped me find the singing mechanics that work best for me, my voice, and my way of thinking about my music and my performance. I recommend her highly.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When a prospective student contacts me, at our first lesson they sing a piece for me. Next we discuss any particular concerns the student may have if they are already out performing, or hope to be.  Then we determine the student's range.  At that point we begin with the basics of good singing and build from there. IF YOU WANT THE BEST POSSIBLE SOUND, THE GREATEST POSSIBLE RANGE, THE ABILITY TO SING WITH PLENTY OF POWER WITH THE LEAST WEAR-AND-TEAR ON YOUR VOICE, THEN I'M THE TEACHER YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a graduate of New England Conservatory, where I subsequently served as alumni president.  I have years of performing experience, having sung in musical theater reviews, in opera, and in my own one-person shows of popular music, which I still present. I have taught students as young as 7, through adults of 70.
