About

I WILL MAKE YOU A STAR! Singing lessons with the best teacher around: all styles, all levels, all ages. I enjoy helping other singers as much as I enjoy singing! As well as having my own studio, I have taught at New England Conservatory in the pop music dept., at Northeastern University (for their musical), and for the Boston Children's Theater. Having been Miss Boston and Ms. Massachusetts, I also instruct my students in stage presence and that all-important "connecting with the audience"! You can find me on Facebook.

Seeing the satisfaction my students experience by the improvement they make!

I’m a high-energy alternative folk/pop singer and guitarist who performs his own material. Ive taken lessons from Ruth Harcovitz for more than 20 years. Ruth has allowed me to make progress at my own pace, while at the same time demanding consistent commitment and attention. Her eclectic teaching style, and her broad grasp of vocal technique, has helped me find the singing mechanics that work best for me, my voice, and my way of thinking about my music and my performance. I recommend her highly.

Frequently asked questions

ONLY ACCEPTING SERIOUS STUDENTS, NO MATTER WHAT STYLE YOU SING: NO CHILDREN UNDER AGE 12, NO HEAVY METAL SINGERS. Since yo do not have to buy an instrument (you come with a voice), and all lessons are online, you do have to have access to a computer: desktop, laptop, or tablet. NO LESSONS ON FACETIME, AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GIVE & RECEIVE PROPER INSTRUCTION. Lessons will be on ZOOM, SKYPE, OR SIMILAR SITE. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS YOU WILL NEED PROPER EQUIPMENT & KNOWLEDGE OF & ABILITY TO WORK WITH THESE SITES. YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO RECORD YOUR LESSONS IN ORDER TO PRACTICE, (EVEN IF YOU READ MUSIC) SO YOU CAN FOLLOW EXERCISES AND INSTRUCTION RIGHT ALONG W THE RECORDING. When a prospective student contacts me, at our first lesson they sing a piece for me. Next we discuss any particular concerns the student may have if they are already out singing, or hope to be. Then we determine the student's range.; At that point we begin with instruction in the basics of good singing and build from there. IF YOU WANT THE BEST POSSIBLE SOUND, THE GREATEST POSSIBLE RANGE, THE ABILITY TO SING WITH PLENTY OF POWER WITH THE LEAST WEAR-AND-TEAR ON YOUR VOICE, THEN I'M THE TEACHER YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!

I am a graduate of New England Conservatory, where I subsequently served as alumni president.  I have years of performing experience, having sung in musical theater reviews, in opera, and in my own one-person shows of popular music, which I still present. I have taught students as young as 7, through adults of 70.

$60 PER HOUR $45 FOR 45 MINUTES; $30 FOR 30 MINUTES.
I HAVE TAUGHT FOR SO LONG, I DON'T REMEMBER.
MOSTLY BEGINNERS: PEOPLE WHO SING MUSICAL THEATER, POP, ETC. ALL KINDS:
YOU HAVE TO BE PREPRED TO WORK AND SET ASIDE TIME TO PRACTICE.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS? ARE YOU WILLING TO PUT IN THE TIME AND BE DSICIPLINED ENOUGH TO PRACTICE 5 DAYS/WEEK?
