Minka V. says, "Brian goes above and beyond with his guidance. As an adult drum learner, I was hesitant to find a teacher that would take my other musical background into account while still being patient with a new instrument. Brian speaks my language and always has the right combination of encouragement and suggestions for improvements. Working in a zoom environment also has challenges and Brian is willing to spend the time to sort out how to have the best remote experience possible. He puts together very helpful videos playing songs I've requested with comments and insights into the rhythms. Highly recommend." Read more

I set myself apart from other players in that I can teach you both sides of the glass, not just playing drums but recording techniques to get killer sounds from your recordings. I am 37 years old, but playing drums since the age of 3. I have played in Rock bands, Progressive bands, Jazz, and currently a Latin rock roots band called Santa Mamba. I have done countless recording sessions for musicians all over the country and other parts of the world. I play other instruments such as guitar, bass, and piano, so I teach about listening while your playing off what other musicians are playing and contributing to their musicality and never stand on...

Tommy says, "Hey Carl it's Tommy. I just wanted to let you know that I've been at an advanced music camp for the past couple of weeks and that until now I never really understood how much I actually taught me. Because of everything you have taught me, I'm step ahead of all the other drummers in transcription, various styles and sticking and basically everything else that we have been doing. So I just wanted to say thank you" Read more

I have been playing drums for decades. I been in award-winnning drumlines, jazz bands, marching bands, pops orchestras. I performed live on stage and in clubs for many years. I have had several private students over the years and am interested in teaching more. Looking to teach young drummers roughly 4th grade through high school. Beginners especially welcome. Initial focus would be on a practice pad, learning technique and rudiments. This would progress towards rhythm and meter, making use of a metronome. And later, the student would progress to a full kit to begin learning limb independence and how rudiments translate into music across

Are drum lessons worth it?

Drum lessons are worth if for those who want to play professionally or who want to learn faster. Private classes help students sharpen their techniques more quickly and build better playing habits. Expert tutors offer tailored feedback to nourishing the latent talents within their pupils.

At what age do you start drum lessons?

Children can start drum lessons between 6 to 9 years old. Initial instruction begins with a single drum. Kids can't play on a full drum kit until they can reach the foot pedals and focus for extended periods of time. For adults, any age is suitable to learn drumming.

How many drum lessons do you need?

You will need drum lessons every week for about half a year to a whole year in order to learn to play simple songs. If you want to audition for a band or play drums like a pro, it usually takes 2 to 5 years of lessons.

How fast you learn depends on how good you are now and how much you practice.

How long is a drum lesson?

  • Make sure you get a written plan and a schedule before you start your first lesson.
  • Try a few classes and see if you like the teacher before you pay for a whole month of lessons.

What questions should you ask a drum teacher?

Before hiring a drum teacher, ask them:

  • How long have you been a drum teacher?
  • What music school did you go to?
  • What ages do you like to teach?
  • Can I try a lesson for free?

  • Will I get homework like drum patterns to remember?
  • Can you teach me in a way that helps me learn best?
  • How long is a lesson?
  • What should I bring to our lessons?
  • How many types of drum music can you teach me?

I am 10 years old and I think Mr. Brian is and encouraging person who is not impatient if you make a mistake. He tells me to feel comfortable with saying that he may be glitchy or if he does not make sense. He sends worksheets that makes practicing very fun. He is super nice and extremely open and I really like my lessons with him.

I am a 74 year old drummer who took lessons in high school and never played for 50 years until 3 years ago. Even though it instantly came back to me I felt that something was missing. When I contacted Tony on the first lesson he asked me what I would like to accomplish if he were to teach me. I asked him to start with the basics as though I had never played before. He did, he not only had me doing basic rudiments he coached me on bringing my confidence level up, taught me how to tune my drums properly, and to this date im playing with much more confidence and my playing ability has greatly improved because of Tony's ability to teach and recognize my playing problems. Even though I now play in a band I will be staying with tony for drum lessons and I highly recommend him to anyone who is either a beginner or accomplished drummer. He's great and his personalty and demeanor is that of a professional.
