How did you get started teaching?
Being a chef and cook naturally involves teaching, so I have been teaching in essence my entire career. Recently however, I have 5 years cataring and in house cooking instruction.
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds. Food and cooking is the tie that binds people of all socio-economic groups. During a few summer months I spend time teaching recent refugees to Boston commercial cooking introduction and on the job training.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about cooking something that frustrates you. You will learn and feel accomplished. Think about cooking something that makes you smile. You will learn and smile more often.
