About

We founded First In Class Business and General Marketing (FBGM) in 2012 as a company for catering, consulting and teaching, mainly small jobs for close friends and neighbors. As we have grown in our experience we have become passionate about bringing the wealth of knowledge of culinary arts to others.

My wife and I are both trained chefs, we really like to work with people and make outstanding food. Our passion is to make great food with great ingredients and we like to invite people to join in this experience with us. We also love to bake outstanding foods for the holidays and we love to share our knowledge!

We really enjoy cooking and working with others to make great food. The joy of coming around the dinner table together as a family with friends both new and old is a really great opportunity. Teaching people to cook is an exciting way for us to share our passion for fine food and wine.

    Frequently asked questions

I like to work with a student and establish a base of knowledge with them, basic techniques coupled with a few basic dishes to start makes a great way for people to build confidence in what they are doing. I typically start with very simple and flavorful dishes that are healthy and add to a person's repertoire.

Nathan trained at Johnson & Wales University and worked as a teaching assistant for the final two years of his degree,  he graduated in 2013 with two degrees, Culinary Arts and Beverage Management. Emma has a degree in Culinary Arts and between the two of them have worked in kitchens and restaurants for over 20 years collectively.

Our basic lessons begin at $75 per person, up to 4 people but our kitchen is quite small at home. Depending on the dishes that we will be preparing some ingredients will cause the price to go up. Typically our lessons last about 2 hours, again depending on the dishes that we prepare.

Nathan was a teaching assistant at Johnson & Wales University for 2 years which was an experience that he really enjoyed, this sparked a love of teaching that has continued to this day. Emma has a natural gift of getting along with people and inspiring them to do their best.

Nathan has worked with many different experience levels of students, from entry level students all the way to advanced. Emma has worked as a trainee with other students and novice culinarians and has experienced first hand sudent interactions which make her a patient and attentive teacher.

We look forward to working with you, be ready to try new flavors and new dishes. Please make sure that any allergies are openly communicated before we begin! Don't be afraid, learning to cook is exciting and a great way to improve your life, and the best part is you get to eat what you make!

If you want to watch some things to get some insight, Good Eats the television show is a great way to see some of the things that we will be working with, also Barefoot Contessa is a great resource. Remember, simple ingredients made well create great food!

Don't be afraid to ask anything! We are happy to cover knife skills, fabrication of meats, basic to advanced food preparation and everything in between. We are also happy to answer questions about wine pairings and anything that might come up about beverage. This is truly our passion and we love the food and beverage industry and sharing it with others!
