About
I am a Certified Professional Coach and drum teacher with 35 years of playing experience in an organizational structure. I've been teaching drums to beginner students of all ages since 2018. My goal is to teach beginners (kids and adults alike) how to play the drums and percussion with the purpose of extending creative concepts to the student that allows them to use their natural abilities and talents to learn, practice, and play to progress at their personal pace. I offer drumset lessons, percussion, bucket drums, Cajon, and other types of percussion. I take the rhythmic approach of "hear, feel, practice, play" with an emphasis on learning how to practice with intent.
You can use drumming to relax, breathe, and as a meditative tool, and truly enjoy what drumming can bring you. Whether as a hobby for yourself, for live performance, for fun, for health, or whatever it is you hear in your head. I am also available for family drum/percussion circles, and small groups. I have experience with autistic spectrum and dyslexic kids and teens.
I like seeing the change in students and their growth in knowledge as they learn more and become comfortable with the physical and ear training of drumming mechanics. Not just what I see alone, but what the student tells me the learning is doing for them. Not just in music or playing, but in everyday life. Observing how a student plays and applies concepts with their own style is as important as anything a teacher can introduce on their own.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Jumping right in with what experience the new student has already, their desires, goals, and what they are looking to accomplish), What does the student find fun and interesting about the drums?
From there, we simply start with the basics. Portions of the lesson devoted to how, why, and when they should practice, coaching the victories of the lesson, with the last portion of the lesson dedicated to new skills and collaborative drumming jams.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
- Drumming from 1985
- Teaching from 2018
- Coaching, mentoring and collaborating since 2017 (as a CPC, ELI-MP. (Certified Professional Coach, Energy Leadership Master Practitioner)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer 30, 45, and 60 minutes classes. The typical lesson fee is $30, $45, and $60 respectively aligned with lesson length. Since I am traveling to student/client homes, travel cost may increase session fee depending on distance.
How did you get started teaching?
I play several instruments (for fun) and was asked by my bass/guitar and music theory teacher if I would be interested in teaching drums to kids. That's where it all started and it has been a rewarding and exciting experience since day one!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had both boys and girls, children and adults of all ages ranging from 5 years to 70+ years young! I have experience with autistic spectrum. dyslexic and ADHD children and teens. Since I travel to homes, other family members have wanted to participate and so group/family plans are also available. I have even had students' pets enjoy the process!
* * I am also available to jam along with non-drummers/percussionists with you playing your instrument. This is great for people who need a tempo and percussive rhythm behind their own instruments practice, and prefer to jam along with another person rather than with machines or software. This is also a great way for you to hammer our songs that need a live organic drum/percussion groove.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have fun doing it and take your practice seriously. Enjoy where the rhythms take you and feel the music and beat of the drums deeply. Even with no experience at all, I am confident you can learn drums, percussion, or both with a relative dedication to your goals. We can and will do this together!
