Hickscrappin Wrestling And Strength Solutions
About
My passion is coaching and helping individuals obtain their goals and setting new goals to strive for. I have coached wrestling for 20 years at the high school and youth levels. Additionally, I have coached numerous high school state champions, state place-winners, and wrestlers who have competed at the D3, D2, and D1 levels. I wrestled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for World Champion and Olympic bronze medalist Terry Brands. I have also wrestled under Kelly Ward, 2x NCAA champion, and my father, Wayne Hicks, who was an NCAA finalist and long-time assistant coach at the United States Naval Academy.
I can teach your wrestler to be proficient in all areas of wrestling while focusing on techniques and tactics that win at the highest levels.
I have worked in the strength industry as a certified professional strength coach for 15 years at various locations, including Golds Gym, Edgewater Fitness, Excellence in Fitness, and privately out of my own home and client's home.
Lastly, I have a master's degree in Child and adolescent psychology. I am currently working towards a doctorate in sport and performance psychology to serve better the athletes that I work with. I have studied extensively mental toughness in athletes and the proper development towards becoming a tougher, more intelligent, and more dominant athlete.
I aim to help athletes gain the mental edge while developing the physical tools to succeed and accomplish their goals.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Beware of resumes. Look for coaches that fit best your your child's learning style and can get the most out of their personality. The coaches with pro careers aren't necessarily the best teachers and communicators. Look for transformative coaches that can not only train your kids to be better athletes, but individuals that can make an impact upon society.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
None. All questions are welcome.
