About

I strive to provide the most personalized and quality lessons for every type of swimmer- at any age. I take water safety seriously and my previous years as a certified lifeguard and instructor inform my teaching. I make lessons fun and informative at any skill level and age and love seeing the progess that each student makes!

Being able to teach others to be comfortable in the water, whether it is a child or an adult (or even babies!), brings me the biggest joy. I work with you personally on goals you wish to accomplish- whether that is getting in the water and learning how to be safe and comfortable, or working on stroke technique and learning how to make a swim work out work for you!

Olivia was a great help in teaching my son the basic swim strokes in preparing for his first season of swim team. She made it fun for him to begin swimming using proper technique, rather than just getting across the pool however he could.

Frequently asked questions

Everything is dependent on the age of the student. Generally, I introduce myself, if the student is a minor and not involved in the hiring process. I let them know how much fun I have in the water, and that I have been swimming for 30+ years, since I was a kid myself. I will talk about what we are going to do in the lesson, and reassure them that they are always safe with a trusted adult or instructor in the water with them. We will go over what is or isn't allowed in the pool area and what I expect during the lesson (listening ears, active participation,  and a positive attitude when we are learning something new). I always give students play time, and recommend something to work on (With or without help, depending on their  abilities) before our next lesson.

I was lifeguard and swim instructor certified for 9 years. I did swim lessons and could swim by 5 years old. I was on summer and high school swim teams and can help with comfort in the water, learning new strokes,  and improving technique.

I have been first aid and CPR certified for 18 years.

I charge a rate per lesson of $40-50 for 30-45 minutes, depending on the age and ability of the swimmer. For multiple swimmers, or prepurchased lesson packs, I can provide a discount.

Since I do not run out of my own facility, I require admission to pool facilities to be paid at this time, which runs an additional  $5-7 on average.

I can work with your pricing needs.

I grew up swimming and got lifeguard and instructor certified at age 16. I worked in a pool setting for years teaching lessons, and helped run a swim camp, where I taught lessons as well.

I have worked with infants through adults at various levels of comfort, including new/non swimmers.

Patience is a must! Everyone learns at their own speed and becomes comfortable in their own time. There is no one size fits all program for swimming. A good instructor will adjust standard lessons and program to for the needs of students. Safety is paramount and instructors should go over safety and rules with swimmers and/or parents before entering the water.

What do you want to learn? How much time can you commit to practicing outside of lessons? Are you ok if your swimmer does not progress like you expect? Fear can keep some swimmers paralyzed and unable to progress for quite sometime. I have seen some swimmers not dip their head underwater for weeks, and then develop into excellent swimmers after conquering that fear!
