NotYetPro Swim School

About

With over 20 years of experience as a swim coach, instructor, and former NCAA Division I athlete, I bring a unique blend of competitive background, teaching expertise, and professional training to the pool. Currently, I serve as a swim instructor at the United States Naval Academy, where I prepare midshipmen for rigorous military swim requirements.

I specialize in teaching adults and older youth (ages 8+) how to swim with confidence, efficiency, and purpose. My background includes competitive swimming from middle school through college, classroom teaching, and years of coaching individuals preparing for military swim tests, lifeguard certification, public safety roles, and SCUBA diving.

I focus on working with serious swimmers—those who are committed to learning and showing up. Whether you’re starting from scratch, overcoming fear of the water, refining your technique for lap swimming, or training for a triathlon, fitness goal, or career requirement, I tailor each session to help you progress efficiently and confidently.

Most of my clients are adults—some have never learned to swim, others are returning to the water after years away, and many are preparing for high-stakes assessments. I bring a calm, structured, and encouraging approach that gets results without wasting your time.

I've worked with students ages 3 to 70. I've worked at the YMCA, Kidsfirst, Goldfish, and other places that provide lessons. In my experience and opinion, if you want to learn quickly, private lessons -2 to 3 lessons per week- are the way to go.
