About
I have been performing since I was 3 years old. I studied four instruments, piano, accordion, clarinet and oboe. I had 11 years of full scholarships on piano, clarinet and oboe. I taught myself to play the accordion
I am an honors music graduate of the world-famous N.Y.C. High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. I performed all over N.Y.C. and the Washington, DC metropolitan area on piano and accordion.
I was first oboist with New York University's orchestra and the semi-professional Bronx Community Orchestra, with whom I performed at Carnegie Hall.
I started teaching piano in 2000 and accordion soon thereafter. I teach my students to play whatever they would like to play. I tailor my lessons individually to each student. I try to make learning to play the piano or accordion fun for the student.
You can read more about me at www.washingtonaccordions.0rg. Look under "Teachers" and "Performers."

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically speak to new students before starting lessons to determine their level of knowledge of music and either the piano or accordion. I like to hear them play something. Once I establish their knowledge/ability level I tailor lessons specificially for them. At this time I am teaching only on Skype. During the lesson I write notes for them to review after the lesson on how their playing went and give them suggestions for how to improve. Before the pandemic most students came to my home for lessons. I would write notes in a notebook with staves in it for them. In general I recommend students take at least one 30 minute lesson a week. I also offer 45 minute and 60 minute lessons.
