About

Hello everyone!

I am a certified Music Educator and have taught in international British Schools worldwide, specializing in vocal and instrumental programs for students aged 6-14.

I've also conducted major festivals like the COBIS International Music Festival Orchestra and the BSF Gifted and Talented Festival Choir and String Orchestra.

I also regularly coached students for ABRSM and Trinity practical and theory exams, with many earning top honors.

As a singer - I am a dramatic soprano and have done a fair amount of professional engagements as an opera singer - notably the title role of Katze Ivanka on the small stage of Sofia National Opera and Nedda in I Pagliacci at the Stara Zagora Opera in Bulgaria just before the pandemic (2018/2019).

After this period I had the opportunity to do my master's studies in Weimar (during the pandemic) which was a good use of my time, fortunately, especially because many opportunities were shut down. My time at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar (Germany) allowed me to maintain an active musical life - I had the chance to perform in numerous recitals, gala concerts, scenes and partial operatic roles - highlights include Agathe in Der Freischütz for the Weber 100th Anniversary Concert and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro in a production at the university.

During 2024 I re-located to Norway, where I am currently based. For now I'm starting the journey of establishing my presence here in Norway and preparing for an audition run in Europe for 2026.

Whether you're an advanced singer or a total beginner - don't hesitate to reach out. I can offer a free trial lesson to any new singers lookign to see if we are a good fit.

Thanks and good luck!

Please reach out for trial lessons! I am happy to do it.

I have put my daughter in singing classes with many different teachers but none were as spectacular as Mary.
My daughter is in love with these classes and all the technique being taught in them, and lve noticed a lot of progress in her singing plus confidence in her ability. I sadly cannot afford any more classes but recommend Mary whole-heartedly to anyone that really wants to advance as a singer and have serious improvement.

Mary has been really great at introducing me to vocal exercises and explaining how our voices function. She has shared videos to further educate me on this - from breathing to how to create proper sounds with how I move my jaw and the importance of putting in daily work to actually see progress and embrace the difficulties in the areas where my voice is weak. Her technique is excellent.
She is very clear and direct with her feedback in a way that is encouraging. That is truly what I appreciate the most. I have gained a lot of knowledge in a short period of time and can already feel the effects of her lessons. I have a very long road ahead of me but it feels like Im now on the right path!

I am a second year college student majoring in Choral Music Education and Mary is the best voice coach I have ever had! I knew from the first lesson we had that ld be able to learn so much from her!
She has helped me discover what pieces work best for my voice type and we have done Italian pieces like Vadoro pupille, Vedrai carino, and Non disperar chi sa. Weve also worked on English pieces like At Saint Patricks Purgatory and French pieces like Apres un reve and Lheure exquise. She has helped me improve my breath support, intonation, and my overall technique in the time lve taken her lessons- almost a year.
I highly recommend her as a voice teacher for anyone serious or wanting to be serious about singing.

Mary was a personal mentor to me during my student-teaching internship in Bahrain in completion of my studies in Music Education at the University of Southern Maine, USA. Not only did she guide me through my first classroom teaching experiences, she also taught me valuable lessons in both vocal and non-vocal performance. I worked closely with her for six months and was able to witness her professionalism first-hand. Shes a wonderful teacher and a wonderful artist. If you have the opportunity to work with her, dont miss it. Miss you, Mary :)

I have only been working with mary for about 3 months. But I have seen great improvements in my singing techniques. She provides great warmup that work on all aspects of the voice to ensure that the voice is developed in all registers. She is a wonderfully encouraging and enthusiastic teacher while also being extensively knowledgeable about technique. She is serious about improving skills but also makes the lessons comfortable and fun. I really like the convience of scheduling lessons and doing lessons online. She is also very good with german and french diction.

Mary is an excellent teacher and has helped me progress considerably as a singer, enhancing my technique in preparation for shows and concerts I performed in. She helped me better understand my own voice and vocal range, helping me discover that I was a natural baritone, rather than a tenor. She is highly skilled, enthusiastic, and always came well prepared for lessons. She was always ready to tackle anything that I needed help with.

    Frequently asked questions

Usually we start with the trial lesson. Together we can do some vocalises, chat a little bit and get a sense of where the singer is at. Then we can discuss the approach that I'd recommend. It is up to the singer as to whether or not they want to continue. If they go past the trial lesson, the can expect vocalises that help condition and develop the muscles and coordination required for singing - including but not limited to breathing, register development, agility and stamina.
I went over this in my bio - but I am an experienced performer as well as a certified educator with experience in schools. I also have a large voice studio. This means that I have a well rounded view of how to educate people of different ages, backgrounds, and levels. (A performer and professional educator is a huge plus for the student).
Yes - but I do not mind discussing pro-rated options with the economic hardships some are facing. Case by case basis. 30 minute lesson: $40 45 minute lesson: $60 60 minute lesson: $80 If you buy more than 1 at a time (3-4 per month) I give a 10% discount.
Hard to say - summer camps where I worked as a counselor. I was also a karate instructor as a young adult.
    EVERYONE!
Just saw a great concert with the Norwegian Philharmonic Orchestra (Shostakovich & Sibelius) Fantastic!
You have to trust what you're being taught is helping you to grow and improve. If you're teacher is avoiding shortcomings then they probably don't know what they're doing. This happens a lot. For example: Someone has no high notes so the teacher gives them a low song... hmm. Are you going to improve? My view: All voice types should have high and low notes - whether you are a bass or soprano. Voice type is a natural color of the voice, not how high and low you can go. Again - just 1 example. So, you should be IMPROVING and growing... not just singing songs that maintain your limits.
Tell the teacher where you feel you have shortcomings and/or what you want to improve. See what they say...does that make sense to you?
