Third Coast Swim School
About
I'm a student at Grand Valley State University, currently working on my undergraduate degree in geology. I love staying active and outdoors as much as my schedule, and this fickle Michigan weather allows! I enjoy running, hiking, biking, and most of all - swimming.
Growing up with a pool in my backyard meant that most of my summer attire as a child was spent going from pajamas to bathing suit, and back again. Summer days were spent running around the pool playing games and racing my siblings and friends until the sun went down.
Once I was older, I decided to "follow" in my Mom's footsteps and become a lifeguard/swim teacher, just as she had. I love working at a country club where the tradition of swim team, swim lessons, and swim fun is strong. I have been teaching swim lessons for 4 years now (this will be my fifth season), and have lifeguarded for just as long, and hope to do both for many years to come!
My teaching style blend fun games and activities with swim instruction, so students don't get overwhelmed and learn to enjoy the water. I reinforce good behavior and skills with positive feedback, and small "prizes" at the end of lessons.
