Sofia Vazquez
About
Hi! I’m Sofia, a classically trained vocalist and voice instructor with over 7 years of intensive private vocal training and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Grand Valley State University. My background has given me a deep understanding of vocal technique, healthy singing, breath support, range development, performance, and vocal longevity across a variety of styles.
One of my greatest strengths as a teacher is being able to quickly identify what may be holding a singer back and provide practical, personalized adjustments that create real improvement. Whether a student is just starting out or already experienced, I focus on building confidence, consistency, and a strong, healthy technique that lasts.
I’m passionate about helping singers discover what their voice is truly capable of in a supportive, encouraging environment while still pushing them toward measurable growth and excellence.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First of all, I like to get to know the person: what is their voice type, how much experience they have singing, what styles they would like to work on. Once that is learned, we move on to warming up a bit and gaging their instrument.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Grand Valley State University, Bachelor of Music with emphasis in Vocal Performance. I have also been training with renowned operatic tenors, and have participated in master classes in New York City
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard rate is $25 for a half hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I first started teaching while I was still working on my undergrad degree to make ends meet as a full-time student.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Singing is always a work in progress. Don't buy into the teachers that will "give you a perfect voice" in very short amount of time, because usually that involves unhealthy techniques.
