I studied vocal technique with Dan Bridston for six years when he lived in Los Angeles County. If he were still here, I would still be taking a weekly lesson, plus engaging with others in performance classes Dan would run. He brings voluminous knowledge of musical history and pedagogy, a skilled ear and many tools to diagnose and treat common ailments of vocal sound production, from those of the singing beginner to the professional’s. Dan is patient and relates to each singer’s situation with sensitivity, tailoring his approach with ever new and different exercises to get at the nub of whatever particular problem presents itself. I guess he’s seen them all or most of them. Plus, he plays the piano beautifully and accompanies his singers with precision and touch. I miss his guidance musically and I miss Dan Bridston greatly as a friend.

I have known Dan Bridston as accompanist, coach, linguist and, most recently, as a voice teacher. His positive, supportive approach in all of these disciplines allows the student to develop a joyful attitude while also enjoying technical growth. I recommend him to the aspiring operatic star or the person whose goal is to be an excellent choral singer. He gives the same professional attention to each.

Dan really understood how the voice works and he can help anyone to become a singer. He individualizes the lessons based on where the students are and can coach anyone from professional singers to beginners. He works with a love for singing and singers at all levels. What’s more, he’s an amazing accompaniest which really helps to prepare the singers for performance.
