About
Mikaela grew up in Eagan on a lake where she discovered her love for water. This passion continued into adulthood, where she began lifeguarding and swim instructing. Mikaela has been teaching for nearly 10 years, and loves to help swimmers of all ages be comfortable and love their time in the water.
She is a graduate of the Carlson School of Management at University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business for Human Resources & Industrial Relations. Mikaela believes swimming is a great sport for all ages, it builds a strong community and fosters both team spirit and sportsmanship as well as individual growth.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to build trust with swimmers. Knowing that what I say is what we will do is crucial. Asking them to do things I would also do is important.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified swim coach, lifeguard, lifeguard instructor, swim instructor I have many experiences in the field.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Usually charge $25 for a 30 minute private lesson, or $30 for a group lesson of 30 minutes. I also sometimes add a travel fee depending on location.
How did you get started teaching?
The water and I have been friends since an infant. I love teaching, and teaching in the pool is the best kind of teaching I've ever known.
