I love be a part of someone's transformation and skill building. Watching a student (of any age) accomplish goals they didn't think were possible is so rewarding! I especially appreciate my adult students who step up to prove all their inner fears wrong, YES YOU CAN DO IT!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With my lessons, the few couple of classes employ many oberstvational techniques to understand skill set and comfort levels. I want the lessons to be a positive and educational experience. With younger children I will take time to do water safety content.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've held many certifications/trainings related to swim instruction over the years - First Aid, CPR/AED, Oxygen, Swim Team Coaching, YMCA Swim Instructor Courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I base my pricing to be comparable to the local YMCA
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in high school when I worked for the YMCA as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I was also an Assistant Swim Team Coach. I've taught with the YMCA and private pools off and on since 2008. Teaching swimming is a passion passed down from my mother who taught me to have a love and respect for the water.
What types of students have you worked with?
With the YMCA and privately I have worked with from 6 months to 80+ years old. Most of my experience has been with children ages 5 to 14. However I've done specialized private lessons with adults, preparing for military service, or fulfilling a bucket list wish. I've also worked with children with special needs, such as autism (verbal and nonverbal) and limited mobility.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
-Name 3 specific end goals/results you want to achieve - the more specific the better (Ex: I want to be able to swim the length of my pool with no assistance, I want to be able to submerge my face completely under water, etc.)
