About
My name is Johammee Romero and I am currently a student at University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a Master's studen in Performance; but that is just the tip of the iceburg. I have been a music educator for 6 years in public school, teaching from Elementary school, Middle school, to High School. I have taught band, music appreciation, and general music (with emphasis on choral music) during that time. I have also been a private music teacher for all brass instruments as my professional instrument is trumpet. I also continue to perform professionally in local orchestras, theaters, and bands in the area.
Music, needless to say, has been and still is a great passion in my life and I find it a great delight to be able to pass this joy on to my students. Along with my wife, our has a variety of lessons to offer, from voice and piano, to all brass instruments, to music theory and ear training. We have both been music educators and are excited to be helping students in more directed and adaptive lessons to reach success for every student!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with any student, it is first important to discern what method of teaching works best, what can I do to help the student acheive the most immediate success. Is it conceptual? Is it playing things for them? Is it trial and error? I try to blend all of these methods to help students become well founded on their strengths while helping them work through and become proficient in their weaknesses.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As far as training, I started music when I was very young, but formally, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Palm Beach Atlantic University and am currently pursuing a Master's in Performance at UNC School of the Arts. My main instrument is trumpet, but I have taught band in both high school and middle school and have taught general music in elementary school. I have taught in Florida and North Carolina.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Price for lessons vary on method of teaching as well as location. I highly encourage students to call me for pricing as it helps me understand every situation and perhaps see a clearer picture. Here is the guideline for what my pricing is for lessons:
Online and in Studio lessons:
-30 min = $30
-45 min = $40
-60 min = $50
Travel lessons (I have to come to the student w/in 20 miles):
-30 min = $40
-45 min = $50
-60 min = $60
