About

I love tennis and I am passionate about teaching the game! I believe it is very important to make the game fun while instructing students on how the game relates to life principles. When the enjoyment and thrill of the game disappears, all we have left is mundane experiences that extinguishes a passion for the game that once was. I desire to help students grow in the game by keeping them focused on the basics, talking through necessary adjustments while celebrating their victories, and working on techniques that are best suited to their style.

I started playing when I was in middle school with some friends and then played on the team during my 4 years in high school. I kept playing actively with friends during my time in college and then played with a team on the ALTA League in Atlantic for 3 years after graduating from college.

I was the Head Coach for a Middle School Boys Team at a Private Christian School for 4 years and I really want to get back out and coach again!

Frequently asked questions

I ask them strategic questions about the game to get an idea of their knowledge level in the sport. I'll work on basic concepts such as forehands, backhands, net play, and serving. After observing my students play, I will have an idea on what kind of mechanics to work on with them. I like setting time aside to talk through goals for my students and encourage them to think on their victories and allowing those victories to shape their continued improvement on the areas they need to grow in. Tennis is more of a mental sport than many people think! Those who play the game must approach the court with positive thinking that is connected to necessary, basic mechanics. I have always told my students that it doesn't matter how hard they hit the ball. You can hit the ball as hard as you possibly can and still walk away with a poor performance in the game. Strategy is key in this game, and if you step onto the court without a strategy, then you are going to struggle with the way you play the game.

I was the Head Coach of the Middle School Boys Team at a Private Christian School for 4 years. I also played in a league in Atlanta.

I charge an hourly rate of $45.

I've had a passion for this sport since middle school! I've wanted to teach tennis to kids for a long time and I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to coach middle school boys. Unfortunately, due to Covid, my full time Teaching position at the school was reduced significantly and I had to seek out work somewhere else. I run my own Technology Consulting Company now and I have open time now to teach tennis.

Only middle school boys, but I am also very open to teach elementary age as well. Majority of the kids I've worked with were at beginners stage of the sport, so I am aware of the components needed to develop true beginners of the sport. I have worked with a few kids that had prior training.

I had a student that came to me first day and told me that he had little desire for the game and was encouraged to give the sport a try by his parents. I remember throughout his first season, I told him that I believed he had untapped potential and he just needed to give some effort for his potential to develop. He will be a high school senior this coming school year and he made All Conference this past year! I'm so proud of him! I knew he could do it!

Make sure the teacher is passionate about the area he/she is teaching. The teacher needs to care for their students and have a desire to see their students grow in the specific area that is being taught.

Why am I pursuing this specific area of development and training? What are the best teaching methods for me as a student? What are some specific struggles I have when it comes to learning?
