To whom it may concern:
For over five years, Derrick has been the tennis coach for my children. While my thirteen year old daughter no longer plays tennis, I watched her grow and develop with his assistance. He was extremely supportive and knew how to motivate her. Derrick’s coaching techniques have been instrumental with respect to my son achieving a top rank in the New Jersey District and in the Middle States Section. Besides working on stroke development, he has helped my son understand how to build points in a match and he has helped him with strategies in tournaments. Derrick is truly passionate about his work and understands how to effectively communicate, motivate and more importantly, support his students both on and off the court.

Hello-
My son Ryan was taking group lessons when he met Derrick, 7 years ago. Ryan would watch Derrick coach other kids on the court next to where Ryan was playing. I remember Ryan coming to me and asking if he could take lessons from Derrick. Ryan is still a rather introverted person, but Derrick knew how to get Ryan motivated and be confident. As Derrick molded Ryan as a player, he would encourage Ryan to take that next step, entering into leagues, USTA tournaments, and the high school tennis team. He taught Ryan how to strategize and would constantly refine the strategy with him to improve his game.
I think as a parent, I am most appreciative of Derrick being an important role model for Ryan. Even though my younger son had no intrinsic interest in tennis, he took lessons with Derrick just because Derrick had such a great way with Kyle as well.
