Honor Monaco

I’ve been playing violin since the age of three and hold an MFA in Music Improvisation and Literature from Mills College. For over a decade, I’ve taught private lessons to both children and adults, helping students build strong technical foundations while developing a personal connection to music.

I especially enjoy working with adult learners—whether you’re picking up the violin for the first time, returning after years away, or looking to deepen your skills. My teaching combines solid technique and Suzuki-based principles with a flexible, personalized approach shaped around your goals and interests.

Lessons can include classical repertoire, folk music, improvisation, ear training, music reading, or simply learning the songs and pieces that inspire you. I believe students make the most progress when they feel engaged and excited about what they’re playing.

My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students gain confidence, develop musical independence, and build a lifelong relationship with music.
