The Bolshoi Studio: 100% Success Rate In Getting Teens Accepted To Great College Performing Arts Programs

About

I have a 100% success rate at getting teens into great performing arts programs in colleges, in all genres of music: Musical Theater, R&B, Jazz, Opera, Oratorio, Country and more. My service stands out because I'm an international opera singer who has stood and sung on real world stages, not only with teachers in a studio - and I still do. I've just sung three times at Carnegie Hall in the past few years.

I teach because I love it and because I succeeded in one of the toughest businesses on earth, I want others to succeed! I have so much real life experience to impart. I started out singing in Musical Theater and worked as a Cabaret singer in NYC for many years when I when I was much younger.

Due to my own varied background, I am uniquely capable of teaching technique in all genres of singing. I prefer teaching opera singers because this is where the greatest wealth of my knowledge thrives, but I also love teaching Broadway/cabaret singers, Rock, Pop and Country singers.

There are four other accredited teachers who currently study with me themselves and who were mentored by me in this technique. They sometimes cover classes at different studio locations.

I enjoy seeing singers transform themselves, not just their voices, by feeling empowered at what they are able to do on their own after a very short time studying.

I wholeheartedly recommend Alisons teaching to everyone! It doesnt matter if you are a beginner or a professional, she works wonders with connecting your sound with your body and brings out your entire voice. As a music teacher, I take a lot of her techniques and apply them in my music classes with my middle school singers, proper technique is so important, especially with young singers.

Alison has a way of bringing out the very best in every singer, even those singers who are set in their ways or just plain stubborn. With Alison, the journey is just as important as the destination. Its an amazing journey which I highly recommend for singers of all levels

I’ve been a student with Alison for the past 9yrs. She has a truly unique way of teaching vocal technique by opening your body and letting go of your mind. Music has the power to heal and this is a true representation of it. She has gotten me through 2 horrible bouts of laryngitis and a vocal change, never giving up that my voice would come Back and stronger. She is a pusher with Flair and compassion.

    Frequently asked questions

After hearing where a singer is as far as skills, I zero in on what area of technique I feel needs the most work.  I teach in masterclasses which gets every singer over their nerves quickly and easily.

I am a professional opera singer for 36 years on some of the greatest world stages, most recently at Carnegie Hall.  In fact, I am still working and will be making my debut at Dallas Opera this year.  A teacher who is a professional performer is what a singer needs in order to understand all aspects of the music business.

My classes are $90 and are 3 hours long.  In them we do "hands on" work with all singers participating to help each singer reach their goals.  Masterclasses teach technique at lightning speed and the technique imprints on each singer's body better this way.  I also teach private lessons for $140/75 minutes.  I save private lessons for my professional students.

I never thought I would teach and at least thought I would wait until I retired from performing.  However, I have so much information from the many teachers I've worked with, that I feel an obligation to share it.  I absolutely love teaching - almost as much as performing!

I have teach and have taught opera singers, cabaret singers, liturgical singers, hip hop singers, rock singers, classical oratorio singers - of all ages.

I am fond of the day I recently heard that all three of my graduating high school seniors got into the colleges of their dreams, all with vocal performance scholarships!

Look for a teacher whose work really resonates with you and for someone who is being of service to YOU, not someone you feel you have to please.

What are your goals?  Do you want to sing on world stages or get a lead role in your high school musical?
