Ramona N. says, "Absolutely the best teacher, Jack (Mr. Huang) taught my 9 yr old daughter and my 7 yr old son.
My daughter absolutely loved Jack, she is sensitive in that she likes to please her instructors and looks for acceptance in her teachers response, Jack always provided and gave her just what she needed to motivate her to play throughout the week until their next lesson.
My 7yr old is on Spectrum and can be prideful and argumentative, Jack handled him well and was even able to get him to like him and receive instruction. This was for sure a huge win!
What I appreciated about Jack is that he was able to understand the children's questions about music, knowing how they were thinking and exactly why they were understanding the music piece, or notes, or how to play incorrectly. I realized that if an instructor doesn't understand why the student is thinking the way they do, then they can not properly correct them. Jack understood it all! He not only remembered when he himself was first taught and how he and his peers had similar questions or understanding, but also he was able to empathize with the children's playing in a way that gave him intuitive ability to understand the children's way of playing, and because of this ability to truly connect was he then able to correct their understanding.
Jack teaches a love for the cello, he teaches a love for playing. For him, its not just about the next recital, its about enjoying the journey of playing along the way and the children saw this about him and it made all the difference in their weekly motivation to practice." Read more
