About this pro

The Adult Clinics at Maywood Tennis Club are offered year-round since we are indoors. All Levels are welcomed from 1st time beginners to advanced level players. All the pros are experienced players wanting to teach the game to all who come. Lessons are a large part of the services we offer at Maywood Tennis Club.

This allows for a greater selection of teachers and their personalities before a choice is made to employ a pro for private lessons if so desired.

I enjoy watching newcomers learn the game of tennis. Over the years I have watched new players develop into advanced level players, joining USTA teams, playing weekly with friends, and simply enjoying all the health & recreational benefits tennis offers.

For the part I played in that development, I am grateful.

First of all the people. From front desk to the PRO's. Everybody is very nice, welcoming and easy going which makes your experience so much more enjoyable. I started coming to Maywood few years ago as a beginner and now playing at an intermediate level. I had a chance to have lessons with many if not all the PRO's. And they all have different styles and personalities but they all great people and great teaches. They know how to keep the balance between teaching and playing. I learned different skills from different PRO's and I can't say I had even one bad lesson. So even though there are a few clubs closer to where I live I keep coming back to Maywood.

Great facility! Maywood is a welcoming and friendly tennis club. From the first time I signed up I felt welcomed! I look forward to going to the Adult Tennis Clinics once or twice a week if I can. The staff & pros are accommodating to your schedule and skill level. Great place to learn, improve skills, have fun & meet new people.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Bring them in first to see how they fit and judge their athletic abilities before beginning any program. It is mostly done to make them feel comfortable and not intimidated.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

All the pros at Maywood Tennis club are certified and experienced!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

As part of a group the standard price for Adults is $30 per hour to hit with a pro ($33 for juniors). If private lessons are requested the chosen pro will usually fix their own rate which includes the cost of renting an indoor court for the lesson.

How did you get started teaching?

All the pros teaching at Maywood Tennis Club are experienced players themselves who found their calling teaching others to play the game.

What types of students have you worked with?

All types and all levels from new beginners to advanced players. Children as young as 4 years old to retired Adults.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

A former student received a college tennis scholarship and plans on returning from school next summer to teach as well.

This year, the daughter of 1 of our pros received a college scholarship for tennis.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Be a part of a Group 1st to cut costs and experience whether continuing to take tennis lessons is something you are really into. You will also be meeting other players of a similar ability when you feel you will want to play matches.

Then observe other pros at the club to decide which among them you would want to take private lessons from if that is what you would prefer.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

How important learning the game (or getting better at it) is to you?

Are you ready to make the commitment (both financial and physical) to get better at playing tennis?

Do I know and trust a tennis pro/teacher? If not start out as part of a group to be able to choose the right one.
