Every time I experience a breakthrough, or an "Aha!" moment with my students, it brings me so much joy and satisfaction in the work that I do. It's absolutely rewarding to see my students grow bit-by-bit, learning what they're capable of with their singing and their musicianship, and seeing them get excited about their progress. As a teacher, I see myself not only as an expert, but also as your cheerleader and coach, encouraging you in both your triumphs and your struggles.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always approach an initial consultation as a "Getting To Know You" session!
During our initial session, I want to know about your background as a singer and musician, what your goals are with your singing, and where you see yourself going with your studies. I'll also lead you through some basic vocal exercises, and you may also bring in a prepared song of your choice for me to see where your skills are at that current time.
All of these factors help give me a snapshot of you as a person and as a singer, both of which will help me tailor an individualized plan for you and your goals. There is no simple "One Size Fits All" approach to studying singing. Everyone has different needs based on their current ability levels and their goals, so it's my job as your teacher to come up with a game plan that helps you realistically achieve your full potential!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
As someone seeking a teacher, here are some important questions I encourage you to ask a potential teacher:
- What is your background both as a performer and as a teacher? Do you have any educational background or a degree in either singing or vocal pedagogy?
- How long have you been teaching privately?
- How many students do you currently have in your studio?
- What is your attendance and cancellation policy?
- Do you encourage live, in-person lessons, or do you also offer virtual lessons?
- What are some of your students' notable accomplishments?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
- What are my goals with singing lessons? What do I hope to accomplish with my studies?
- What kind of repertoire do I want to be focusing on?
- Is studying voice a short-term goal or a long-term investment for me?
