Hi! I'm Sarah Beth Andrews, professional singer, actress, and coach. With 15 + years of voice training rooted in classical technique I sing and teach all styles and genres, Musical Theatre being my specialty. I have a BFA in Musical Theatre from Montclair State and I'm a proud member of Actor's Equity Association (AEA) and The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). I've been performing professionally for over a decade including Equity theatre productions, cruise ships, concerts and more. I've been teaching almost 10 years, maintaining a private studio in Rahway NJ. (check out my website for full bio)
I work with each student extremely personally, always catering to the student's individual needs, goals, and interests. My goal is to create confident and healthy singers. To instill a solid foundation of technique that helps them understand how their instrument works, educate them about vocal heath, and empower their creativity into artistic choices.

Sarah Beth Andrews is one of the best voice teachers , I have ever had. She teaches you great vocal technique, and gives you great visuals as to where your voice and breathing should be. When singing through a song. I have learned so much for her, and my singing has advanced to a higher level. Since I have started with her, for about a year. She is so passionate about singing, and so caring about her students! Sarah has made me regain my love and passion for singing. Every lesson I have with her, is so awesome and amazing. Sarah is one of a kind, a true treasure and I’m so grateful, and blessed to have her in my life, and as a voice teacher!!

I just started to see Sarah in January she is very encouraging. Her lessons are relaxed and she gives really great feedback. She is understanding of the plight of being a student and affording lessons and gives discounted for her lessons. I really improved my vocal range while I was with her and I didn’t even realize it which is the best part! Singing should not feel grueling or like a task. You should feel free and feel like you having a great time even if it challenging, which is the environment Sarah demonstrates in her lessons.

Sarah is extremely welcoming. I am a shy person, but it feels natural to trust her as a student.
I came to her after deciding I wasn’t satisfied with the teacher I had at the time and she had really made a good impression over the phone. She took the time to ask me questions about what my goals are and didn’t make me feel pressured to make a decision right away. She even discounts the first lesson/ trial lesson!
I have been with her for a couple months now and I am so happy with my progress. I see her weekly for 90 minutes and her attention to detail and approach to teaching me good vocal technique has been really rewarding. I am sure I would not have the ability I possess now if it would not have been for her. I fee like she takes advantage of every minute of the lesson to teach as much as she can, to warm me up and to coach me through songs that I want to sing. We have even expanded my range by a lot. Every lesson I go higher and higher.
I love to sing and want to turn it into a career, so getting better at singing means everything to me. I really feel like Sarah is unlocking my vocal potential and I’m really excited to see what else is to come with her as my teacher!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I structure my lessons around the individual student's interests, needs, and goals. I start new students with an "ice breaker lesson" (trial) for a discounted rate to ensure we are a good fit. Acting and Singing are extremely personal and I want my students to feel comfortable and satisfied.

$60 p hour
*For prearranged filming that includes a backdrop and studio lights I charge an extra $15 fee.
DISCOUNTS:
-The first lesson is a discounted trial to ensure we are a good fit.
-College students (must be currently enrolled in a college/university)
How did you get started teaching?
I have been a singing all my life but when I was 19 I had a cyst on my left vocal cord that was eventually surgically removed. That experience changed my life! After rehabilitating/training with some of the top voice teachers, singing voice specialists, and Speech Language Pathologists, I became a total voice nerd and was inspired take vocal pedagogy classes in college. I learned about vocal anatomy, health and teaching fundementals. With my new understanding my instrument and my natrual nack for treaching it was a no brainer from there.

I've worked with students of all ages and levels of experience, however I now mostly work with teens and adults. My specialties include:

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Honestly, I love coaching so much there's too many to just pick one. But I will say that I love seeing my musical theatre students perform in shows that I've coached them through from their audition. It's extremely rewarding seeing them on stage confident and solid in their role.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
