About
Our dojo was established in 1969 and has been successfuly teaching Men, women and children since ! We teach Traditional Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate. Herten sensei has been training in karate for 53 years and holds a 9th degree black belt, issued by the International Okinawa Shorin ryu Karate Union in Okinawa Japan. Al classes are supervised by Hanshi herten and all instructors are a minimum 3rd degree black belts. we are open for classes six days per week and offer morning and evening classes.

I have 53 years of training and 48 years of teaching and operating a karate school.

Our beginners course is $39.95 for two weeks of classes and includes a uniform.
How did you get started teaching?
After returning from service and Okinawa i began teaching part time for another school in my home town.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages from 5 years to 72 years. I have had many students with autisum. I have taught students who were partially blind.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My favorite event is the Toys for Tots Tournament that we do every year.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure to watch them teach, and how they treat thier students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Good questions are about history and philosiphy of the teachers art.
